                          Karen Miller, Artist

Although Karen Miller learned the basics of drawing and painting "way-back-when," in high school, she allowed her talent to lie dormant for many years. Finally her "inner artist" demanded to be let out. She honed her skills by taking many workshops in various media taught by respected masters in the field. Oils and pastels emerged as her favorite means of artistic expression.

"Plein air" painting is what Karen loves the best. Placing herself outside, on the spot. The challenge is to work fast while braving the Wyoming / Colorado elements, because the light changes quickly. This same feeling of light and spontaneity also infuses her studio work.

She also loves to create painted portraits either from live sittings, or portraits from photographs, and has fun doing "quick portrait sketches" of people using pastels at various outdoor events.
